Science in Truth

The Invisible Work

Over the centuries, Science has contributed immensely to civilization: Enlightenment of the human mind on the nature of the Universe and her place in it. Undoubtedly, the results of her indefatigable essayings continues to gift humanity not only with these priceless disclosures but also with principles or laws that consistently provide boost to our usefulness. Laws such as, ‘the conservation of energy’ does a good job indicating our inherent interconnectedness. How do I mean?

Well, since the total energy in a system (in this context, the universe) is constant, and we are all caught up (ha-ha) in this ‘system’, it wouldn’t be presumptuous to assume that we possess all forms of energy – kinetic and potential – perhaps, in different degrees. The athlete and the singer at work transforms energy: the athlete in motion transforms energy from electrical (brain and nerve functions — in mapping out his course) to mechanical while the singer uses electrical energy (cf. above but in this case to vocalize) and produces sound. In both cases thermal (heat) energy is also produced.
